Troopers report Pedro Segura, 58, was floating on an inner tube with another one tethered to his. The two tubes came untied and drifted apart. Segura reportedly exited the inner tube and attempted to pull the other one to shore. Troopers believe the water was deeper than he thought and he went under several times.
He was recovered in 10 feet of water by bystanders who started CPR.
He was transported to McCurtain Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at the ER.
The incident was investigated by OHP Trooper Jay Reich of the Marine Enforcement Division.
