SHAWNEE — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that a Moore resident injured in a two-vehicle accident on Sept. 14 has died.
Troopers report that Kirk Halbert Sr., 58, died on Sept. 17 at OU Medical Center.
Halbert was a passenger in a 2016 Dodge Ram driven by Kirk Halbert Jr., 41, Moore.
Troopers report the pair were traveling westbound on Wolverine, one mile west of Shawnee in Pottawatomie County, and a 2016 Toyota Corrolla driven by Melody Hanson, 27, Shawnee, was southbound on Acme.
OHP reports Hanson failed to stop at a stop sign, striking the pickup and causing both vehicles to depart the roadway to the south west through a fence into a field.
Hanson was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where she was treated and released.
Her passenger, Leslie Stence, 38, Oklahoma City, was transported to OU Medical Center and also treated and released.
Halbert Jr., was admitted to OU Medical Center and treated and released.
Halbert Sr. was admitted in critical condition with trunk and internal injuries.
Condition of driver: Vehicle-1 Under Investigation
Condition of driver: Vehicle-2 Apparently normal
Cause of Collision: Failed to stop at stop sign
Seatbelts: Unknown/ Under Investigation
Airbags: Equipped and deployed in both vehicles
Weather: Cloudy
Roadway: Wolverine: Gravel /Acme: Paved /Intersection: Gravel
Pinned: Driver of vehicle one for an unknown amount of time.

Assisted by Trooper Ballard No. 249 of the Traffic Homicide division, Trooper Hanover No. 505 with Probationary Trooper Gregory No. 362 both of Troop A. Also assisted by REACT and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office.
