Grove resident killed in crash near Vian




VIAN — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that a fatality collision occurred on Sept. 24 at approximately 4:54 p.m. hours on U.S.64 County Road S 4490 approximately two miles west of Vian, in Sequoyah County.


Troopers report Travis Tullos, 31, Grove, was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla and Alicia Hernandez, 30, Vian, was driving a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 with four juvenile passengers, ages, 14, 9, 3, and 3.

What happened is under investigation. Troopers report Tullos was pronounced dead at the scene by Pafford EMS.

Hernandez was airlifted to St. John’s in Tulsa where she was treated for head and arm injuries and released. The 14-year-old female was transported to St. Francis  by Muskogee County EMS and was treated for minor injuries and released.

The nine-year-old female was airlifted to St. Francis where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

The two three-year-old males were transported to St. Francis by Pafford EMS where they were treated for minor injuries and released.


Roadway:  Dry

Weather:  Clear

Seatbelts:  Equiped Vehicle-1 unknown if in use. Equpped Vehicle-2 in use by Driver and Passenger-1 and Passenger-2 not in use by Passenger-3 or Passenger-4.  

Airbags:  Equipped and deployed in Vehicle-1 and Vehicle-2

Assisted by Trooper Jordan Galvan No.311 of the Sequoyah County Detachment of Troop C, and Trooper Duncan Smith No. 199 of the Muskogee County Detachment of Troop C. Also assisted by members of the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s office, Pafford EMS, Muskogee County EMS, Core Police department, Vian Police Department, and Vian Fire Department.
