CHICKASHA — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that a personal injury collision occurred at 8:44 p.m. on Sept. 21 on the H.E Bailey Turnpike mile marker 77 eastbound, in Chickasha, in Grady County.
Troopers report a 2003 Mazda Pickup driven by David J. Matthews, 65, Purcell, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 44 in the inside lane as was a 2013 Chrysler 300 driven by Jordan R. Robinson, 27, Moore.
Troopers report that Matthews abruptly applied the brakes and Robinson was following too closely and hit Matthews from behind.
Matthews was transported by Chickasha EMS to Grady County Memorial and later transferred to OU Medical Center where he was admitted in fair condition with head injuries.
Robinson was not injured.
Condition of Driver Vehicle 1 – Unknown medical condition.
Condition of Driver Vehicle-2 – Apparently normal.
Cause of Collision- Under investigation.
Seatbelts- Equipped, unknown if in use by driver of vehicle-1. Equipped and in use by driver of vehicle-2.
Weather- Cloudy.
Roadway-Dry, 4 lane divided.
Pinned- None.
Airbag- Deployed in vehicle-2.
