Henryetta Woman Killed in Accident near Hitchita


HITCHITA, OK — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that a Henryetta resident was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 5:25 p.m. Sept. 18 on U.S. 266, one mile north and one mile east of Hitchita in McIntosh County.

Troopers report Annie Brown, 88, was westbound on U.S. 266 when for an unknown reason she departed the roadway to the right striking a tree, running through a fence and coming to rest against a tree.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Checotah EMS. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Investigated by Trooper Christopher Reeves No. 588 of the McIntosh County Detachment of Troop C. Assisted by Trooper Duncan Smith No. 199, Trooper Dakota Bunch No. 784. Also assisted by McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office, Hitchita Fire Department, Checotah, Fire Department, Paradise Point Fire Department,  and Checotah EMS.
