California Residents Injured Near Kellyville



KELLYVILLE — Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that a personal injury collision that occurred on July 28 at approximately 6:43 a.m. on the Turner Turnpike westbound at the 206.6 mile marker, approximately three miles north of Kellyville, in Creek County.


Troopers report a 2011 Toyota 4-Runner pulling a camper trailer, driven by, Gregory Roosa, 55, La Crescenta, Ca. was westbound on the Turner Turnpike and fell asleep at the wheel departing the roadway to the right striking a 2015 Freightliner, Vega Salvador, 65, of Downey, Cailf. and a 2016 Freightliner, Rafal Skocz, 32, Chicago, Ill., and then came to rest on the right shoulder.  


Troopers report Rosa was not injured. His 13-year-old passenger, La Crescenta, Cailf., was transported by Creek County EMS to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with injuries to the head, neck, trunk, right arm and leg external. Admitted in good condition.

A second passenger, Amy Rhine, 51, La Crescent, Cailf., was transported by Creek Co EMS to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with injuries to neck and shoulder internal. Treated and released. 

A third passenger, a juvenile, age nine, La Crascenta, Cailf., transported by Creek Co EMS to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with injuries to the head, neck, trunk arms and legs all external. Admitted in good condition.  

The drivers of the Freightliners were not injured.  


Condition of Driver Vehicle-1 – Apparently normal  

Condition of Occupant: Unit A - Apparently normal; Unit-B – Apparently normal 

Cause of Collision – Apparently sleepy

Seatbelts – Equipped in all and in use in Vehicle-1, not in use in Unit-A and Unit-B

Airbags – Equipped in Vehicle-1 deployed at front of vehicle. 

Weather – Raining

Roadway – Wet 

Pinned – Passenger-1 pinned for approximately 30 min. Extricated by the Kellyville Fire Department using the Hurst Tool. 

 

Investigated by Trooper Jerrad Real No. 339 of the Turner Turnpike division. Assisted by Lt. Steven Swann No. 93 of the Turner Turnpike, Troop Dustin Smith No. 327 and Probationary Trooper Cody Mcelyea No. 257 of Troop B, Creek County EMS, Kellyville Fire Department, and Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.
